About US

Patti and Darla were destined to be where they are today---friends, designers, crafters, and business partners. Their parents were lifelong best friends, which in their true Cajun upbringing ensured that future generations would be bonded together forever.

Patti and Darla are both cosmetologists, though they gladly tell you, “We don’t do that anymore.”  They always seemed to be connected in many aspects of life, even though life took them on different paths. Patti was a successful cosmetologist until she retired in 2010, while Darla pursued a career in healthcare reimbursement. Unbeknownst to them, they both had the need to create, and collaboratively, they have done just that.

In 2020, they designed, sewed, sold, and shipped over 6,000 face masks all over the world. They both say that they, “…have never worked so hard, and yet had so much fun, and would not want to do that with anyone else but each other.“

Since 2020, they have collaborated on projects, while each pursuing their own unique styles. They had many conversations about what they wanted to do next. Both were sure they did not want just an Etsy shop, or to share pictures on social media, hoping that their friends and family would like, share, and make purchases. It was time to take things to a different level.

Recently, more serious talks took place. Patti had a very clear business model that she wanted, and Darla loved it. Darla was insistent that it be a “Brand,” not just making things that everyone else could make, and she kept pushing “Always Cajun.”  However, what Patti did not know, was that Darla was already drawing, creating, trashing, and starting over many designs that would be their own, all the while knowing that it would have to be “fancy,” but still be true to their Cajun culture. It took a while to convince Patti, but eventually she agreed to the concept.

Both were steadfast in the important things, and each gave leeway on their individuality. They both had and still have unwavering loyalty to each other, to the “Always Cajun” brand, and an understanding of each other’s strengths, and will absolutely step up when it is needed.

Patti is the Chief Creative Officer and Darla is the Chief Technical Officer, which absolutely works for them!

Their Values

Lifelong friends and now business partners, Patti and Darla are grateful for their Cajun heritage and both believe in their concept, their families, and their loyalty to each other.

Their Mission

When asked what sets their brand apart from other brands, they agree that, “We do not want to sell everything, we want to sell what we love, design, and make in South Louisiana.”

Their Business Model

Their business model is having an “availability timeline” (spring, Mother’s Day, etc.). The duration of this varies based on the collection. This ensures avoiding market saturation. So, when it is gone, it is gone.

Their Creative Process

They encompass a very creative and collaborative process for each of their collections. Usually all-night texts, calls and screen shots of drawings, swatches, and designs show that they are dedicated and “all in.”
